War Child is seeking a motivated Project Assistant who can fulfill the following Job description and join the organization.

Job Summary/ Scope of Work:

The primary purpose of this position is to support the Senior Program Coordinator in overseeing the daily operations and effective implementation of the project, ensuring alignment with the approved project design, budget framework, donor requirements, and compliance with War Child’s policies, procedures, and technical quality standards. The role will play a vital part in ensuring that the project meets its objectives efficiently and with high quality.
The project aims to provide urgent educational support to children, caregivers, and educational personnel in crisis-affected regions of Gaza, focusing on the scale-up of psychosocial support (PSS) and Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) within Temporary Learning Spaces (TLSs), and will focus on providing critical equipment/resources, Education in Emergencies (EiE) materials for teachers and students. 

Responsibilities and Tasks:

1. Project management and implementation:
  • Support in representing the project in different coordination and reflection meetings with the project implementing partners.
  • Support the overall coordination and implementation of the project, including risk assessment and management.
  • Identify and prioritize programmatic needs and ensure that the project/s addresses those needs.
  • Ensures compliance with donor and War Child rules and regulations, including financial management, record keeping, and procurement, in coordination with the Operations Department.
  • Ensures appropriate programme quality standards are used in the design and implementation of the project/s.
  • Liaise with the MEAL staff to facilitate systematic program monitoring and evaluation are in place and ensure that lessons learned are documented and shared for learning. 
  • Secure community and project stakeholder participation and ensure accountability to project participants in the development of the Monitoring and Evaluation Plan, and support the implementation of the feedback and complaint response mechanism (FCRM). 
  • Develop and maintain a database of all technical and narrative reports, presentations, maps, data and information, and pictures produced by the project.
  • Monitoring field activities, ensuring proper implementation of interventions, and supporting the documentation of activities.
  • Overseeing the equipping of selected TLSs and providing emergency education supplies and learning materials, and the distribution of students’ kits, which will be self-implemented by War Child.
  • Conducting a pre-supply needs assessment in TLSs to identify gaps and prioritize resources accordingly.
  • Overseeing and managing the referral process of cases identified through project activities, ensuring that children, caregivers, and other vulnerable individuals are linked to appropriate and timely services. Also track all referred cases, maintain updated records, and ensure follow-up in coordination with War Child’s technical team and partner organizations.
  • Ensuring that War Child safeguarding measurements are taken into consideration in all project activities implemented by the partners and report any breaches to the code of conduct or the child safeguarding policy to the line manager/child safeguarding focal point.
2. Networking/coordination/representation/strategic influencing:
  • Proactively develops, coordinates, and maintains productive relationships with project stakeholders, in coordination with the Senior Program Coordinator.
  • Ensures proactive coordination in the field to ensure complementarity and avoid duplication and fragmentation.
  • Identifies strategic programme opportunities, approaches, and modalities for strengthening the PSS and education programming, in close collaboration with the partners and the Senior Program Coordinator.
  • Provide inputs to communications products, materials, and campaigns to ensure accurate information about the project when required. 
  • Ensures the visibility of the project and activities with relevant national and international audiences.

Knowledge and experience:

  • University degree in Education, Social Sciences, Psychology, Community Development, or a related field.
  • At least 1-2 years of experience in a similar role within NGOs or community-based projects.
  • Experience working on child protection or psychosocial support programs is highly desirable.
  • Strong communication, coordination, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a dynamic and challenging environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Good command of English, both written and spoken.
