Job Purpose
The Project Officer will play a key role in the joint implementation of the WCUK–WASSA SIDA-funded project in Badghis province, contributing to the effective delivery of climate-resilient livelihoods, IGA/TVET, and community-based child protection activities. The position is responsible for coordinating and implementing field-level activities, providing practical technical guidance, and ensuring basic oversight to support high-quality, timely, and community-driven interventions in collaboration with WASSA teams.
The Officer contributes to strengthening Community-Based Structures (CBSs/CBOs) by facilitating practical capacity-building and promoting inclusive, climate-adaptive, and child-safe approaches. The position ensures adherence to WCUK technical standards, safeguarding principles, and donor requirements while maintaining effective coordination between WCUK, WASSA, communities, and local stakeholders.
Job Description
The Duties and responsibilities may include but not limited to:
Technical Implementation & Field Coordination
- Provide field-level technical support to WASSA teams on climate-resilient livelihoods, natural resource management, IGA/TVET, and community-based child protection.
- Coordinate and participate in regular field visits to record progress, verify quality, and identify implementation gaps.
- Ensure activities integrate safeguarding, inclusion, gender sensitivity, and child-safe practices.
- Follow up with WASSA on agreed action points from support field visits.
- Implement and coordinate selected WCUK-led activities, including trainings, workshops, and pilot interventions, in collaboration with WASSA and community structures.
- Coordinate logistical and technical arrangements for WCUK-led trainings, including participant management, materials preparation, and documentation.
- Facilitate community consultations, awareness sessions, and participatory planning meetings related to livelihoods and child protection.
- Support field-level coordination for joint WCUK–WASSA implementation and monitoring missions.
- Coordinate and co-facilitate capacity strengthening trainings and workshops for WASSA staff and Community-Based Structures (CBSs/CBOs) under guidance of WCUK technical advisors.
- Provide structured field-level coaching to WASSA staff and CBSs to reinforce application of training content.
- Promote participation of women, youth, and vulnerable groups in all community activities.
- Support progressive handover of responsibilities to WASSA and CBSs as capacity strengthens.
- Review and record functionality of community-based case management systems in line with agreed SOPs and child protection minimum standards.
- Provide regular field-based support to WASSA caseworkers through joint visits and review meetings.
- Support identification of child protection risks and timely referral or follow-up actions under guidance of WCUK technical advisors.
- Facilitate coordination with relevant local authorities and maintain updated service mappings for referrals.
- Work jointly with the WASSA project team to develop success stories in line with WCUK and donor reporting requirements.
Monitoring, Learning & Reporting
- Collect and verify activity data, beneficiary/project participant information, and monitoring evidence from field activities.
- Prepare concise field visit notes, weekly updates, and inputs for monthly and quarterly reports.
- Document lessons learned, challenges, and good practices from joint implementation.
- Ensure timely communication of field updates, risks, and achievements to the WCUK Project Coordinator.
Safeguarding, Accountability & Compliance
- Ensure all activities comply with WCUK safeguarding, child protection, PSEAH, and accountability policies.
- Promote safe, inclusive, and respectful community engagement.
- Immediately report safeguarding concerns and operational risks to the Project Coordinator.
- Support functionality of basic community feedback and complaints mechanisms.

Experience and mandatory criteria:
Eligibility Criteria
- Applicants from Badghis Province are strongly preferred. Candidates should be based in Badghis and be able to work in the target districts as their duty station. The role also requires the ability to travel independently to other targeted districts and villages within the province. (Female staff will be accompanied by a mahram, in line with prevailing regulations.)
- University degree in the field of Agriculture, veterinary medicine and social sciences.
- Minimum 3- 4 years of experience in climate resilience & livelihoods, agriculture & livestock, community development, IGA, or TVET programming and Child Protection.
- Experience working with communities and local NGOs.
- Knowledge of community-based child protection is an asset.
Skills and Competencies
- Practical knowledge of climate resilience and livelihood approaches.
- Ability to facilitate community meetings and small training sessions.
- Basic monitoring and data collection skills.
- Strong communication and teamwork.
- Fluent in Dari; Pashto and English.
- Ability to use MS Office and simple digital tools.
