Intern: Institutional Funding - Opportunity Research
You support the members of the Institutional Funding and Grants Delivery (IFGD) team and beyond in researching, identifying and tracking relevant funding opportunities from a variety of institutional donors and foundations. The core objective of this is to support the timely and proactive preparation and positioning of the War Child Alliance for relevant funding opportunities, which is key to successful fundraising and quality project development processes and outcomes. Obligations you may have in relation to your study will be discussed with you in order to ensure that your time with War Child will complement your learnings and provide meaningful career development.

- In collaboration with Account Managers and other relevant staff, map sources and channels (platforms, newsletters, websites, portals, etc) from which funding opportunities are typically identified ;
- Consistently track funding opportunities based on pre-identified or newly identified funding sources on a weekly basis;
- Assess the feasibility and relevance of identified funding opportunities in relation to WarChild’s organizational and fundraising strategy and programmatic priorities based on various criteria (thematic, geographic, eligibility) and application guidelines;
- Through regular check-ins with Account Managers and other relevant staff, bring together relevant perspectives for a complete relevance and feasibility assessment of identified funding opportunities;
- Based on past funding trends, map the regularity of relevant funding opportunities and consider ability to forecast the opening of funding windows;
- Assist in updating and maintaining pipeline tracking tools (including War Child’s central data system) with upcoming deadlines for funding opportunities;
- Contribute to internal knowledge management by ensuring that insights and strategy of donor and funding trends are captured and accessible across the team by updating the donor profile two-pager on a regular basis;
- If needed, support coordination of go/no-go decisions by preparing inputs for internal discussions based on the assessment of funding opportunities;
